Sat Morning Action Adv. TV by dusty-abell Sat Morning Action Adv. TV by dusty-abell
Well, here it is.....finally-

This is my loving homage to the awesome bunch of Live Action/Adventure Saturday Morning TV Shows I grew up watching as a kid throughout the 70's. Saturday morning was a huge time to look forward too every weekend for me growing up and these shows were a big part of the reason why. Fantasy, Science Fiction, Dinosaurs, High Adventure, Superheroes.....man we had it all back in the day! I think every boy my age had a crush on Joanna Cameron (Isis) in the mid 70's. If you're under 30 you might not have the vaugest idea who any of these guys and gals are, but I would recommend looking any of them up on YouTube to get an idea what they were like, and if you dig what you see, pretty much all of them are available on DVD (i've got most of them) but remember, my memories of these shows were formed watching them when they were brodcast for the very first times on good ole thirteen channel televisons, pre-Star Wars when Pong was about the most sophisticated video game in the pizza parlors, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for these wonderful reminders of how much fun I had being a kid growing up in the best decade to be one of ALL TIME! I have full descriptions of the various characters and the shows they're from plus isolated shots of all the characters minus color in my scraps section here-

and here-

I also have a smaller formatted version that you can better see the whole image located in my scraps section here-

This brings back so many memories.  I know exactly what you mean about watching these live action shows.  Ark II was my favorite and definitely had a boyhood crush on Ruth from Ark II and Isis....Lol.  Again....awesome work.

I also grew up during this time period. I also counted the days until Saturday each week. It's impossible to describe what it was like to kids in an age of DVR.

And yes I loved Joanna Cameron. And Deidre Hall.

Oh, one more thing.  I WANT RAY ELLIS' DC SUPERHERO SOUNDTRACKS HE DID FOR FILMATION.  BAD.

Who?  Ray Ellis was Lawrence Welk's arranger.  Who knew he did all that badass music in AQUAMAN and all the other DC cartoons?  I was 7 when I found out - mind = BLOWN.  Who'd'a thought the maker of crappy Lawrence Welk music made all those musical masterpieces?

Oh no, it's DANGER ISLAND!!!

I always worried about Chango.  He always struck me as severely mentally disturbed.

I loved these shows.  Keep Wil Ferrall away from them though.  Heard one of the krofft's on the radio a year or so ago.  Those black dudes in skeletal paint were from the Danger Island segment of the Banana Splits show right?  Not sure whether those would be consider scary or just very racist these days.  LOL  They freaked me out as a kid.

This is a great idea for a series. If you decide to do any more, here are a few ideas. What if you did the monsters of the Outer Limits, The creatures of the Twilight Zone (I know the Twilight Zone was more of a psycho drama, but there were several monsters in the show). And to finish up what about a collection of Batman 1966s rogues gallery.

I remember! In the early 70's they always had segments of "In the News" and there were always stories about the Apollo Spacecraft or one of the missions. Not to mention "Schoolhouse Rock" segments.

As to shows, not all 70's Saturday morning TV was Sci-Fi-- anyone remember "Westwind"?

Hey Dusty! They printed this out poster size and had it on display at a Convention Gil Gerard was attending. He has a pic on his Facebook page with him standing in front of it.

DUDE! IS THAT BIGFOOT AND WILDBOY!!!
Holy crap, you just gave me flashbacks!
Do you remember a show called "The Powers of Matthew Star"?
Wasn't Saturday morning action adventure, but it's from the same time period. I think it was prime-time on CBS. Oh,!! And the television show "Automan"!
Or the movie "Megaforce"
TV was great in the 70's and 80's! Wish they'd repeat all these. Somebody should make a 70's TV station online. Like a HULU Nostalgia page.
