Star Trek Animated by dusty-abell Star Trek Animated by dusty-abell
Just an idea to make Star Trek fun again. I'm a big fan of the original and the animated series.

The white-haired guy on Pike's crew looks like the Federation President from Star Trek VI. Intentional?

Great idea for a TV show, and I've got an idea how it would be carried out, animated and cast:

Chief Animators: Bruce Timm & Paul Dini (all of the shows based on DC Comics characters, in particular Batman: The Animated Series)

Scriptwriters: Timm, Dini, Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens

Voice Cast

Christopher Pike....Kurt Carley

Spock....Ben Tolpin

Number One....Susan Blu

Yeoman Mia Colt...Tara Strong

Dr. Boyce....Paul Eiding

Jose Tyler....Jason Marsden

James T. Kirk....Chris Pine

Spock...Ben Tolpin

Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy...Karl Urban

Lt. Nyota Uhura....Zoe Saldana

Lt. Hikaru Sulu....John Cho

Ensign Pavel A. Chekov....Rider Strong

Lt Commander Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott...Unknown

Animation by Tatsunoko Production Co., Ltd.

Animation style: similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend Of Korra.

Totally agree. THE CAGE is my favorite episode. Byrne recently did some decent Pike-era stories for IDW -- would love to see some by Dusty. Would also like to see Dusty do one of those green-skinned Orian gals!

I love how strong the likenesses are when you've used a relatively few amount of lines. I like how they all have strong personalities, especially the regular cast. Though I do really like Pike's kinda intense, manly-man face, and I like contrasting pilot Spock and regular Spock. Sulu's smirk is awesome, and regular Spock and McCoy look great, too -- they have very distinctive faces and I like that you used just enough lines to get that across, while still keeping everything really clean.

I really dig your linework, the way you've captured the likenesses and allowed all of the unique personalities to shine through. :+fav:

Me too! It was my 1st introduction to Star Trek, as I was too young for the original series run and old enough in the 70s to start remembering neat things like this :D

I still love it  Thank you for this great blast from the past!

Have you considered submitting to IDW?

They're the present holder of the Star Trek comic book license, and In my opinion, their doing the best job with 'Trek comics I have ever seen. (The only thing I've seen comparable was Peter David's run on the DC Comics Star Trek, and IDW's cool enough to reprint them.)

Anyway, I think you'd fit in well there.

unless editors left me alone, i don't think i could do it. i'd only want to do the kirk and spock stuff anyway. and i know for a fact they pay absolutley nothing for the work they're getting...sad really!

I can't comment on IDW's editorial policies, but I am a little disappointed to hear that the pay is less than stellar. Makes me wonder if anyone is paying a page rate these days.

Great design pic,I like it. It's been a long time since I even saw the animated version though. Just two questions.

One,do the characters from the pike version, the white haired one and the black skinned one have names? And two,if you love the original series and I do just the same have you ever watched the new trek internet series PHASE II? It's a blast!

white haired guy is an alien that was in the beginning of star trek 4, on the bridge of the ship that gets bum rushed by the alien probe...i just liked his look so i threw him into the original crew for some variety.

the other fella you mentioned is Lloyd Haynes, he was the actor who played Lieutenant Alden.

and yes, phase 2 is fun as heck!

Great job.

The only detail that was off, was the Enterprise's registry number NCC - 1701.

Aside from that, great work.

I love the original series of "Star Trek" (including the guys from the original pilot above), as well as what little I've seen of the animated series. All that stuff was great. I'm less a fan of the rest of it, but I still really love the idea behind the whole concept.

I loved the alien dude from the animated series. Did you add the alien dude in the original cast? He looks like the guy from the fourth movie, and the President from the sixth.

But great work all around! You should be drawing the new "ST" books from IDW! :D

thanks man, glad ya liked it, i'm a trek nut, and yes i did add the alien from 4 and 6. i liked the way those guys looked and i figured an alien on board pikes ship would be fun.

i actually think my buddy kelsey shannon may be drawing the original trek crew for idw, kelsey is sick talented. he colored our invincible covers. he is amazingly good!!!!!!!
